Sunflowers aims to be a strong part of the local community, we employ 18 staff from around Nidderdale, Ripon & Harrogate and work hard to maintain links with local business’.
We have strong links with the local Children’s Centre and nearby schools, and ensure we support Pateley Bridge Library , Nidderdale Pool and Leisure Centre and provide work experience and volunteering opportunities for students at Nidderdale High School.
Each year we help to organise the Family Area at the annual Nidderdale Show – providing baby changing facilities & bottle warming facilities, art and craft activities and entertainment for your children – plus an area to sit and eat a picnic and enjoy a snack – this is a day each year we all enjoy as it gives us the opportunity to meet up with past and present ‘Sunflowers’ and their families and enjoy what proves to be an amazing day in the local community.
The past couple of years we have also included a ‘healthy packed lunch shop’ where families can buy sandwiches, fruit, vegetable sticks and dips, flapjack and other tasty treats for their children for lunch – this has been very successful and adds another dimension to your young child’s day at the Nidderdale Show!
These are some of the lovely things our parents and carers have said about Sunflowers…
‘Our two children have been at Sunflowers since they were 6 months old. Sunflowers provides great quality childcare and have a great staff team. Both my children thoroughly enjoy their time at nursery, especially messy play and playing outdoors in the gardens. The food is great too.’
‘I was always confident to leave my children at nursery the security gives you peace of mind, you also know that they are kept busy all day long with so many activities, also when ever they could go out and play they would, the outdoor area is brilliant and kids loved it, its always good to pick up a tired but content child (and a messy one always a good sign of a good time!).’
‘This is a wonderful nursery with wonderful staff. The range of activities and care taken by the staff ensure our little boy is happy, fulfilled and worn out every day. As parents we are well informed and very grateful to all who work here’
‘The first thing that struck me about Sunflowers was the friendly atmosphere. The staff are very welcoming and always willing to help if you have any questions. They also have a real affection for our children and make them feel happy and secure. Our children enjoy stimulating and varied activities and often don’t want to come home at the end of the day !’
‘The standard of care at Sunflowers is excellent and what’s more the genuine affection shown to our children by the staff shines out like a beacon. Sunflowers is not our closest nursery or the most convenient but it is worth driving in the opposite direction to reach it. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to sing your praises !’
‘The nicest thing about Sunflowers is the people who work there. They really care about the children – It’s not just a job to them. I know I’m leaving my little girl with people who will cuddle her if she cries and be delighted when she says new words’
‘Both my children have enjoyed Sunflowers and are always extra chatty on the way home from there – that’s if they aren’t too worn out ! They love the outdoor play area, which is very important. Equally important are the caring staff with whom they have made special attachments. I know they are in a caring, safe and fun place when they are at Sunflowers.’
‘Sunflowers has been a lifesaver for me, they have always been amenable and flexible and fitted around my shift work. The staff are always friendly and will help provide continuity with your child’s care at home, such as potty training.’
